Localizer Performance (LP)

A line of minima on RNAV (GPS) approach charts that uses WAAS for lateral guidance only, with angular sensitivity that increases toward the runway like a localizer. It is flown to an MDA, not a DA. LP is published only where terrain or obstacles prevent vertically guided minima and only if it gives lower minima than LNAV, so it never shares a chart with LPV or LNAV/VNAV, and it is not a fallback when LPV is lost. The receiver must be approved for LP: WAAS units approved before TSO-C145b and TSO-C146b may not support it even if they fly LPV. Some receivers add advisory vertical guidance (LP+V), but the barometric altimeter remains the reference for every altitude restriction.
