First Fuel Cell Powered Piloted Aircraft Flies

Antares DLR-H2, the first manned aircraft able to takeoff and fly powered by fuel cells took its first flight this week on July 7 in Hamburg, Germany.
"Roadable aircraft" to be test flown soon

The Transition, a small aircraft that converts into a car is scheduled for testing by Terrafugia, a Woburn, Massachusetts based company. The vehicle's wings can extend and retract and transform the roadable car into a fixed-wing airplane and vice-versa in only a few minutes.
As a car, the transition will be able to reach speeds of 90 MPH. As an airplane, it can fly at 115 MPH with a range of 500 miles.
Air New Zealand flies 747 on biofuel

Air New Zealand completed a successful biofuel-powered test flight of a Boeing 747-400. The two hour flight took off from Auckland airport on Tuesday morning, December 30th, 2008 as part of a joint initiative between Air New Zealand, Boeing, Rolls-Royce, Honeywell's and Terasol Energy.
Garmin's Synthetic Vision certified

Garmin International received FAA certification for its Synthetic Vision Technology (SVT) this week. The new technology will display 3-dimensional terrain information on Primary Flight Displays (PFD) of Garmin G1000 glass cockpits.
