FAA proposes new rest rules for airline pilots

The FAA announced today, September 10th 2010, a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) intended for fighting pilot fatigue. Once approved, the new rule will change part 121 airline pilots rest and duty requirements.

Several of the U.S Major airlines joined in a petition against the FAA's plan to increase crew rest requirements for long haul flights longer than 16 hours.
Washington D.C.'s special flight rules now permanent

The FAA has made the special flight restrictions and procedures around Washington D.C. permanent. This rule will become effective starting February 17, 2009.
