Colgan Air pilots join ALPA

Friday December 19th, 2008; Colgan Air pilots selected the Air Line Pilot Association (ALPA) as their collective bargaining representative union.


“We look forward to working with them [Colgan Air pilots] to improve their careers and to the Colgan pilots’ active participation in the Association’s ongoing work to enhance the professional futures of all ALPA pilots.” said Capt. John Prater, president of ALPA.

Colgan Air is a regional airline owned by Pinnacle Airlines Corporation since January 2007 and is based in Manassas, Virginia. It employs about 450 pilots and operates the Beach 1900D, Bombardier Q400 and SAAB 340B aircraft. The 56 airplnae fleet serves Continental Connection, United Express, and US Airways Express.

ALPA represents about 53,000 pilots in the United States and Canada and is the world largest airline pilot union. It was established in 1931 and is based in Washington D.C.
