Which path to take: regional academy or stay local?

Postby JPritch on Thu Nov 09, 2006 7:42 pm GMT

I'm 28, have my PPL and just over 90 hours. I have a BS degree in Information Systems, which is the field I'm currently working in. My ultimate goal is to become a corporate jet pilot.

I'm trying to determine the path I should take to meet my goal. There are a few flight schools in my town and an airport operating in Class-D airspace. Would I be just as competitive staying local and earning my licenses and ratings and working PT as a CFI for a few years and then applying for a corporate flying position. Or would it be best to close up shop here and dedicate myself full time at a specialized flight academy?

I'm pretty flexible since I don't have any children or a mortgage payment. Just a car note that's almost paid up.

I appreciate any insight, and thanks in advance for the advice!

There is a great Helicopter flight school out of Lakeland, FL called
FlyEliteHelicopters.com - they also are connected to a CFI who looks for pilots to build twin time: twintime@garycoxe.com
