Which JAR school???

Postby fergus on Thu Apr 10, 2003 6:20 am GMT

HI,

Could any tell me how I should choose a school for an ab-initio JAR CPL/IR+fATPL+MCC course. Many schools offer it but then turn out either not to be properly JAR approved or their instructors are not.

Is there any bias as to the school or country you train in? Is it the case that an airline will look at where you trained and if they don't know the school or it is in another country, they will not want you puely based on that?

I have looked at European Flight Training in Florida, DeltaConnectionAcademy also in Florida, trying to get info on Western Michigan Uni (you know anything?) and also a new school in Slovenia called Solinair. They run an integrated ATPL course contracted by a company called JetLInk based in Luxembourg. Any information on any of these I would really appreciate.

Thanks guys,
Fergus

I have founf EFT and Delta as you, and I have to decide as soon as possible. Also take a look to http://www.ukft.com , but I think EFT is the only that takes you to 1500hrs at reasonable price

I have seen EFT, Delta Connection academy and UKFT/Rainbow academy:they are all very good, but EFT has just 6 C172s, 7 BE76s and 1 PA28 complex (not much) but you can get 1500hrs as FI, UKFT offers ATPL and 1500hrs for 88000$ (very much, with 500hrs turboprop as SIC), Delta gives frozen ATPL/MCC/CRM in a 110 a/c fleet but only 900/1000hrs. My choice will be between Delta and EFT, so I'm looking for some advices to help me to take the decision.

Which JAR School

You will want to check into the school's pass rate for the ATPL Theory, CPL and IR Exams. This will give you a good indication as to the quality the school provides. With schools that are overseas it's important that they have the ability to provide the ATPL Exams. This will save you the expense of travelling back to Europe to conduct exams. Additionally, location is important. Good weather leads to shorter time in training. Also find out the staff background.

I have looked into Delta Connection Academy, and I am quite happy with what I have seen so far. They operate over 100 aircraft have very experienced staff and have excellent pass rates.

Wishing you the best :D
