FAA TO JAA

Postby AHLIAMER on Thu Aug 05, 2004 8:59 pm GMT

HI
AT THE TIME I AM LOOKING TO CONVERT MY ICAO LICSENS TO JAA. THE BEST ADVISE IS TO HAVE A DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE FAA AND ASK THEM. THEY WILL BE ABLE TO TELL YOU WHAT TO DO.
OR GO TO THERE WEBSITE AND YOU WILL FIND USFUEL INFO.
GOOD LUCK. :D
THIS IS WHAT I HAVE DONE AND ITS THE RIGHR WAY AND SHORT WAY.
NOTE THAT THOSE ORGNISATIONS ARE QUITE HELPFUL AND TRYING TO MAKE LIFE FOR PILOTS EASY, THINGS ARE CHANGING TOWARDS THE BEST.

JAA convertion in USA

Postby BestAviation on Fri May 27, 2005 9:56 pm GMT

If you allready hold FAA CPL you need to do a JAA ATPL ground school course of 6-9 months. Take the exam...and then start flying for the JAA standard. All depening on your level this should take 2-3 weeks leaving you with a JAA-CPL.

However you have to do the Instrument Rating in Europe. You cannot convert the IR in the USA at present. And it's a spendy sucker costing from $6000-8000 (ironically the IR alone cost as much as all the other convertion training).

Hope this was of any help.
