How do i build the required flight time?

Postby Guest on Mon May 12, 2008 5:35 am GMT

Hi all!
I want to become an airline pilot. However, looking at the cost of a flight hour, I don't know how I can ever build enough time to be hired anywhere.
I know i'll need to pay my way up to 250 hours to get a commercial license, but how do you get the 1000s of hours of experience required by the airlines? Where do you start?

There are many ways to build flight experience without paying for it: flight instructing, pipeline patrol, scenic flight, glider towing.
By the way the aviation industry is looking right now, you may need to wait a while before you will be able to find an airline job.
