AEROMEDICAL EVACUATION - The Movement of Patients by Air
The Royal Aeronautical Society would like to invite you to the Aerospace Medicine Symposium 2012 on Tuesday 6th March 2012 at the Royal Aeronautical Society, London.
The 2012 Aerospace Medicine Symposium will comprise of two half day themes which will put lessons learned during recent conflicts at the forefront of the information presented throughout the day. The morning sessions will address military aeromedical evacuation aspects including providing emergency care in the air, the challenges of providing military air transport to meet the needs of the aeromedical evacuation and high quality, rapid movement of patients. The afternoon sessions will look to address the civilian aspects of aeromedical evacuation.
The Symposium will encompass the latest issues in the delivery of emergency airborne movement of the acutely ill and planned movements of patients including those requiring critical care.

Stewart Named Lecture 2012
Speaker - Dr Nigel Dowdall, Head of Aviation Health Unit, CAA Safety Regulation Group
The Symposium will be followed on the 6th March by the annual Air Marshal Stewart Memorial Lecture
The Stewart Lecture was established in 1969 to honour the life and work of Air Vice Marshal W K Stewart CB CBE AFC BSc MB ChB MRCP, who joined the staff of the RAF Physiology Laboratory in 1940 and commanded the RAF Institute of Aviation Medicine (which the RAF Physiological Laboratory became) from 1947 until his death in 1967. Over the years Stewart lecturers have recognised the contribution of many aviation medicine specialists and aviators to flight safety.
This lecture is free to attend and you do not need to have attended the conference during the day to attend the evening lecture. The lecture will open for registration at 17:30.
