While many U.S. businesses are outsourcing their work to foreign countries, Brazilian-based Embraer will base an assembly plant for the new Phenom business jet in Melbourne, Fl.

The plant will be located in Melbourne International Airport (KMLB) and will be used for final assembly and furnishing of the new Phenom 100 and 300 bizjets. The majority of the Phenom customers are in North America. The location of the plant will keep the factory close to its market.

Customers will be able to visit the plant to choose the final furnishing and interior design of their orders.

The Phenom production is set to begin in 2009 at market price of 6.65 million U.S. Dollars. It will cruise at 41,000 feet, carry up to 8 passengers at 450 Knots and require only one pilot.
